I am participating in the summer shawl swap of 2017 on Instagram. Each person makes a shawl and sends it to their "secret crafter". To see some of the other shawls that have been made just search #summershawlswap2017 on Instagram. The pattern I chose to make is called "Mine Once More" by Michele DuNaier. This shawl is worked from the top down, which was a change for me as most of the shawls I have made have been from the point up or just a rectangle. I have created a link (in blue) to the pattern listing in Ravelry. This is a premium pattern but well worth every penny.
The yarn I used for this shawl is called "Dancing Feet" a sock weight yarn that is a 70/30 wool/nylon blend. It is available in 8 different colors and you can find it at BambooMN.com
I found this pattern easy to make, easy to read and very well written!!
Yesterday I went to the local Wal-Mart to see if they were carrying Red Heart Super Saver Ombre. I was very disappointed, they didn't have Ombre or Stripes. What's up with that Wal-Mart? On my way out of the yarn aisle I overheard one of the clerks talking about the new Mandala yarn from Lion Brand. If I hadn't heard her I would have missed this self stripping, #3 weight yarn.
This yarn is super soft and comes in 5.3 oz/150 g/590 yd/540 m cakes. It is machine washable and dryable and is 100% acrylic. So far I am really enjoying this yarn. It is nice to see a #3 weight that isn't baby colors. My Wal-Mart has a limited line of yarn. They carry most of the major brands but everything seems to be just worsted weight.
Lion Brand Yarns Mandala comes in 16 different colorways. I love the color names that they have chosen, Warlock, Pixie, Gnome to name a few, the color I bought is called Unicorn. I feel lucky to have found this yummy yarn. Lion Brand has had such an overwhelming response to this new yarn that they are out of stock. Follow the link (in blue above) to the product page to check out all the pretties that will be coming soon; leave your name and e-mail to be notified when it will be back in stock.
Recently I wrote about Red Heart Yarns Super Saver Stripes. You can read my full product review here Super Saver Stripes Product Review. I have designed this lovely scarf to go along with the review. I tried to create something that would show off how well this yarn's colors flow into each other. Beautiful results without all the work. Who likes to weave all those ends is when you're done with a project? I know it isn't one of my favorite chores. I added a bit of fringe to the ends, after all doesn't fringe make things fun?
The colorway I used is called Preppy Stripes, hence the name Preppy Stripes Scarf. I am not very good at naming projects but really don't want to use a number system to keep track of my designs.
The stitch pattern I used is super easy and works up quickly. I hope you enjoy this free pattern and have fun making your own Preppy Stripes Scarf. You can find the pattern here. Preppy Stripes Scarf.

Last weekend I had to travel out of state for the funeral of my beloved Uncle Bobby. We left Maine at 6 am & didn't get home until 10 pm that evening. It was a long and difficult day. Before we left I grabbed what I thought was a full skein of Red Heart Unforgettable in the Pearly colorway and my I crochet hook. I worked on my way to Massachusetts and on the way home until I ran out of yarn. This is what I came up with!! The Pearly Shells Scarf.
Happy Mother's Day to all. Please enjoy this free pattern as my gift to you.
Here is my newest Unforgettable pattern. Spring Meadow Cowl, done in Red Heart Unforgettable Meadow Colorway. This cowl came about as a mistake on my part. Originally intended to be a wrap, I realized to late that I hadn't chained enough stitches. Not wanting to frog my progress I kept going.
This pattern uses one skein making it very affordable to make. All you need to make this lovely cowl is one skein of Unforgettable, a J hook and two buttons or a shawl stick, a little bit of time and a cup of coffee, tea. or a beverage of your choice!!
Sample shown is with buttons. You can find this free pattern at the link above, or you can purchase an ad free pdf in Sherry's Corner Store.
